Worimi Conservation Lands is OPEN to visitors, the Lavis Lane access will be closed from the 12th December to the 13th December 2019, for maintenance.
The Lavis Lane beach access currently has a build up of sand on the ramp approaching the dunes in the Recreational Vehicle Area (RVA). Vehicles have been getting bogged in the soft sand as they exit the gravel at the end of the track approaching the dunes, causing a public safety risk on the beach. Works are scheduled on the 12th and 13th of December to relocate the sand off the track to the dunes on the southern end of the access. Both the Gan Gan and Fern Bay access will remain open for vehicle access. Pedestrian access is also closed during the proposed works.
Beach driving conditions are good, however drivers are reminded to take care in soft sand at the entrances/exists and to avoid driving through water. As we move closer to summer there are more and more visitors on the beach and out and about in the park. Drivers are reminded to reduce speed to a maximum of 20km/hr if passing pedestrians, and 40km/hr if passing other vehicles.
The beach within the Worimi Conservation Lands is unpatrolled. Swimming is not advised. Lifeguards are on duty further north at Birubi Point Surf Lifesaving Club when red and yellow flags displayed. Please swim between the flags.
In an emergency dial 000 or, if no mobile reception, try 112. If calling from the beachfront, advise operator of closest distance marker (markers are not to scale).
