High seas and swell are currently modelled for the Hunter Coast from Sunday 5 July, peaking through Monday 6 July, and easing on Tuesday 7 July.
Conditions are being closely monitored. Beach users are advised that partial closures and restrictions to 4WD access within Worimi Conservation Lands may be required during this period to ensure visitor safety and protection of cultural sites.
Beachfront Driving Caution
Visitors are reminded to exercise caution when driving on the beach, as conditions can change rapidly due to hazardous weather, surf and tidal influences.
- Driving within two hours either side of high tide is not recommended due to the increased risk associated with changing ocean and weather conditions.
- Beach access conditions remain subject to ongoing assessment. Please refer to the Worimi Conservation Lands website for the latest access information and operational updates.
- If the beach becomes impassable, safely turn around and backtrack along your original route to exit.
- Do not drive over frontal dunes or vegetation. This is prohibited and penalties apply.
Further advice regarding beach access and any closures will be provided on Friday 3 July
