Guudji Yiigu – A Worimi Welcome
The Worimi Conservation Lands are currently open for beach driving. Visitors are advised to exercise caution at all times, as conditions can change rapidly due to weather and tides.
Drivers should be aware of hazards including soft sand, erosion, washouts, and sudden drop-offs. Avoid attempting to traverse the beach at
high tide, particularly during large swells. Driving within one hour either side of high tide is not recommended due to increased risk from changing weather and ocean conditions.
If the beach becomes impassable, safely turn around and backtrack along your original route to exit. Do not drive over frontal dunes or vegetation, as this is prohibited and penalties apply.
For your safety, avoid driving through seawater or large pools of water. Always drive to suit current beach conditions, as well as your vehicle’s capability and your own experience.
Remember: Beach conditions can change quickly. Vehicles have previously become stranded, swamped, or lost to the ocean in this area. If in doubt, it is best to postpone your trip.
